Well spring must be just around the corner. Yesterday while I was outside playing with the dog I thought I heard the song of the red wing blackbird. Around here in NW Indiana these birds are among the few early migratory birds that make their presents known.
I waited a few more minutes to confirm the bird and heard his song two more times.
I usually count on robins as a sign of spring but this year they have been here all winter long. And a very cold and long winter at that. Makes me wonder what they were thinking.
The cardinals are singing their mating song this morning as are the black cap chickadees. With the sun out and a temperature of 15 outside maybe they know something. We can only hope.
