Hello guys. I posted this on winter trekker but I was getting any response so I figured I'd post it here. Just like canoe tripping I'm new to winter trekking. I have done plenty of day snowshoe hikes, at least once a weekend through the entire winter. I mainly want to get into winter trekking and hot tenting for my winter beaver trapping. It would really expand my line. I'm looking at getting some new snowshoes for this winter and I need your help. I already have a pair of Iverson 10x36 green mountains, and they are a great snowshoe in the woods, but I would like to get something a little longer for deep drifts in trails and on lakes. I would prefer to get Fabers. Right now I am looking at either the 14x48 Maines with the classic lacing or the 12x60 Alaskans with the heavy duty lacing. I was wondering what you guys would pick? I will be using these for leisurely strolls, work, trapping, and maple sap collecting.

whatever style you choose, I would recommend getting them with the monoline lacing from Snowshoe Sales and Repair.

I find that my traditional Alaskans work well on the lake and trail. May want to check out countryways snowshoe, they have a lot of traditional hand made shoes, with great lacing options. I use a Cabelas work binding on mine....
