i have been spending some time this evening looking at some Go Pro photos, still and movies.the bear eating one was a nasty flash of what a attack might look like!.but it struck me that these neat gizmos might change outdoor and nature photos the way the change from film to digital did.i know people still take shots like Ansel Adams with big film and wet dark rooms but that work is not up front, is not in style anymore.even 35MM work is out of popular view.
so will a computer driven demand for more action in photography and point-of-views cameras change the "art" so much as to become something new? change is not bad,all the time anyway---

it's just a level trail thru the woods.

I don't believe a fixed focus, fixed focal point, tiny censored, video camera with the lack of any manual controls will change the art of photography. It does make great action videos with the proper editing...

I agree. This is more an evolution of the video camera than the still camera. They are still cousins but on a different evolutionary path. It has opened up a whole new world. Add them to cheap flying drones, helmets, canoes, cars or attach them to animals. It brings a new form of entertainment for those with short attention spans. :-)
I like editing pictures but find it a chore editing video clips.

Not sure about GoPro but this looks kind of interesting. 3D pics. It will be interesting to follow when released. It could make some interesting BWCA landscapes.

the September 22nd issue of the New Yorker magazine has a very good in depth story on Go Pro.lots about the guy who developed it and how it's turning into a "life logging" item, both good and bad.
