OldGreyGoose: Nice trip report. Too bad about all of the rain and wind you encountered - guess that's part of the experience. Really enjoyed your pictures as well. Thanks for posting.

Awesome report. I think I *might* have been in one of the canoes coming out of the big north bay on Quetico headed towards your old camp. :)

Carmike, if I remember correctly one canoe was red, the other the natural skin color. --Goose

Yep, that was definitely us. One Penobscot 16 and one Minnesota II.

Man, that wind funnels down those long east-west lakes. We had planned to do some more adventurous daytrips, but that northern bay was about the only place we could get to without lots and lots of paddling into a strong headwind. There is some good fishing up there, so all was not lost. :)

Thanks for the report and pictures, OGG. I think we've all had those trips where "things just don't go the way they're supposed to".

Carmike, How far up in there did you get to? Up in there to the left (northwest) there's a "narrows" that's walleye-friendly, and up the right side there's supposed to be a 4-star camp with a sand beach. (Of course high water had some beaches submerged.) I hope to get up in there some day with my son-in-law. --Goose

Sounds like you help up better than most would under those conditions. (especially on a solo). Appreciated the 'piss off the bugs fire' comment. Thanks for taking the time to share a well written @ entertaining account of your adventure.

I was just on a similar trip and it seems like we took some of the same pictures... that's funny. Glad to see you had a good trip.

JONX513, I came back with 234 photos on the card and for the first time, just went through and pretty quickly eliminated all but about 80-something. --Goose

OGG, We were hoping to cross paths with you but it looks like we missed you with your trip scaled down a bit.

Really enjoyed that report. Very Nice indeed. We have been to most of your route and stopped at several of the same campsites. Bummer on the weather. I warned ya' about the white knucklers on Quetico Lake eh? Have a great fall trip! Your due now.

Hudson Bay Bread. Great trail food.

Nice report.
