I'm not sure how it could've gone better! Thanks.
Regarding the ramps, I think their flavor is better than onions so I put them in anything that I'd put onion or garlic into. I never seem to gather quite enough to make it through the year but next year I'll know. The leaves are great for salads when fresh, I've fried them like onion straws, and dehydrated they're perfect for tripping. They were also great in the trout chowder I made on Mountain Lake.

NICE! I just found some a good recipe to try on the wild-leeks site. Thanks!

I enjoyed your report. I can also relate to everything you felt for a first solo. I also did my first solo in June in the Q this year and I was only weirded out one night. I was amazed at all the bird sound I was able to hear throughout my trip.
Nice fish and it sounds like a good route.
Thanks for the report. I still need to type up mine. Stay tuned. You will probably relate.

Thanks BLee. I'm looking forward to reading your report as well. First solo and you choose the Q. That had to add an element of adventure knowing that you'd be seeing even less people.
It's hard to find the time to sit down and punch it out but it's great to rehash it all again.

I'm glad I've taken the time to write out extensive trip reports from my last couple of trips. I wish I had them for all my trips. I've found it's better for me to sit down and do while memories are still fresh. This is true even with extensive notes, which are easier to do write up in camp when you're solo ;). Maybe someday I'll try to write up reports from some of my earlier trips, but the notes , if any, are sketchy, and the memories are faded. It's good to have a lot of pictures too. I take a lot more pictures since I started carrying a waterproof camera in my shirt pocket and it's so easily accessible.

A very enjoyable trip report. I found myself wishing all the way through that there were photos, but then I did see some at the end. (I don't click on photos to enlarge, but they looked like very good photos.) We have been to all of this area, and it was pleasant to "return", seeing it through your eyes.

Thanks again. This site is really special in that people get the opportunity to share these individual experiences. So glad to be a part of it!
Mocha- Yes indeed. I'm a young guy but I definitely found that the one day with the "travel day" was 700+ rods, double portaging was too much. But that's the beauty of solo tripping. It's easier to find your limits without having to take others abilities and temperaments into account.
Spartan-This was my first trip report and I'll definitely do the day by day option next time so I can correlate the pics with the report for each day. I hope that some of the spots were easy to identify in the pics.
Thistlekicker-The recipe probably isn't a true chowder but it was the Bear Creek Creamy Wild rice that's available in most grocery stores (just add water), a handful of dehydrated leeks, and a 20" lake trout cooked over the fire with butter and some of that herbed garlic butter that they're making now. Here's the soup and here's the butter stuff. I had to keep the butter in a sealed container because it does leak a little olive oil at warm temps. It was a bit much for me so I ate dinner twice that night. :)Can't wait to make it again next year!
