Enjoyed your report - thanks for the post. Looks like Birch is a natural! One of these days I'm going to make it to WC, I hope.

Thanks, interesting trip report. I don't know much about WCPP, but hope to get there someday.

So that was you we passed on Paull. (North side, middle of lake, about noon). Birch was mentioned every day on our trip.

What strikes me is the weather differences. We were just a bit north of you, and we had one 2am storm, and light rain at dawn another. Otherwise clear.

Hi Tom! Good to see you on this site! :) Enjoyed reading your trip report today and figured by the name that it was you. Birch looks so grown up now. Glad the blueberries blocked your path. We saw so many plants on our trip that Chris was very glad it wasn't blueberry season because he figured we would have likely missed our pick up out of Douglas because of my inability to stop picking blueberries!

Tom,
Glad you made it back to Hayward OK. We had good conversation in the WCPP. I appreciate your insight and stories. Great trip for you and Birch. Sorry for the remark, when you got out. But, you did need a shower.:)

Talk with you soon.

Still working on the trip report. It was an awesome experience. I'm still soaking it in. I have a journal, and things are being remembered as a little time passes. The filter of time is sorting out what was and was not a big deal.

My souvenir is the guaranteed scar I will have on my shin. First hour on the trail slipped and scraped out a 2 inch circle of skin. After a week of beaver infested waters, I went to my doctor the day after I got home. She scolded me for waiting to have it looked at saying " they do have doctors in Canada ya know?"

Would do it all again tomorrow.

Did a similar trip with Suncatcher and boppa last Sept. We did Boomerang to Talon which was a mistake. The portage into Boomerang was longer than we'd expected because of low water... it was September... We had a great time too.

Birch looks like a great dog! I'm going to miss having one when I go, but I'm determined not to get another dog at this point.

Enjoyed the report especially the portage descriptions. The portages in WCPP are one of the things that make it special.
