I received the unit and have been getting to know it over the past few days. Overall - I like it a lot.
Likes: Nice sharp display, feels great in the hand, lightweight, seems pretty intuitive to me. Extremely customizable. Feels like a quality product - it doesn't feel cheap.
Dislikes: The screen is smaller than I thought - I guess I'm too used to my iPhone 5. Lags compared to my iPhone 5 - a bit slow to respond and draw maps at times. That's it for now.
I was somehow able to update the unit's software using Garmin Web Updater. Next I installed Garmin Basecamp on my mac and iPhone. Through trial and error I was able to install a few different transparent maps from GPSFileDepot.com . If you asked me the exact steps I couldn't tell you. I just kept clicking around and dragging and dropping until I had success. I still haven't filled the units built in memory or even installed the microSD card I bought for the unit. I still have on board memory remaining. I've also installed some waypoints from Google Earth but I'm struggling on adding more from a different source within Google Earth.
I like how I can choose what maps to be displayed in the map setup menu.
I also bought a Ram Mount cradle and base for it and although I haven't hard mounted it yet it seems to be high quality and easy to use.
I'm pretty happy so far. I'm a tough grader and I'd give it a 6.5-7 out of 10. I hope I feel the same or better after using the unit more.
