Thanks! There are actually 4 of us, spanning 3 generations, with none of us related. We have so much fun! Already planning for next year!

We took a loop out of Sawbill a few years ago and went through that same chain of lakes. The day we pushed off had a very ominous look and feel. We wanted to push through to Phoebe the first day. I remember going across Alton thinking the skies were getting heavier. We met another group at the portage into Beth. They suggested we get our rain suits ready. We had them in the top of the packs so we had them out and ready. It wasn't 2 paddle strokes into Beth that a light drizzle started. Then out of now where a big flash of lightning scared you know what out of us. As soon as the thunder stopped it seemed like someone had turned a garden hose on in our canoe. It was raining so heavy I could literally see the water rising in the canoe. We started pushing hard for the first campsite we saw. I am sure my mind has expanded upon the experience but by the time we reached the first site that was open we hopped out and got what gear we could into the shelter of the tress while we started hanging tarps. That was sure a wet start to our trip. At the moment I'm sure it was downer but my friend and I always have a good time remember that start to that trip.
It really is a blessing when you can have calm waters and not many issues with bugs and weather when you are in the BWCA. I am always thankful for those times.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
