Could anyone tell me if there's a gear swap associated with the event that's going to be held this weekend in Sturgeon Lake, MN?
My beloved wife has actually agreed to join me for some winter camping, which forces me to think hard about getting a slightly larger (preferably Snowtrekker) tent. My 6.5 oz.solo ST is a bit too small (8X9), my Cabela's Alaknak 10X10 is a bit too big and the Beckel 8X12 wedge tent is too heavy for us to manage on the sleds we pull in winter. Time for some new gear.
All of this stuff, and a good steel 12X12X24 stove, is going north with me to the cabin in northern Wisconsin this weekend. If there's a gear swap anything like the ones I used to see at the traditional archery shoots I haunted for years then I'll bring them along for trading bait.
I'm trying to be respectful of the vendors who have paid for space to sell their products. Off line used gear trading would not be welcome or polite at some events, but I've never been to the WCS event before.
I can be reached at 608-279-6455 or will check this forum for a reply. Thanks guys.

There is an "auction". There is a secured room where you can show your items. You pay a small fee. You can put a set price on your items or you can participate in a silent auction. Settle up with the winners on Sunday a.m.
See the Winter Camping Symposium website for specific information.

I set a goal of losing 10 lbs. this year. I only have 15 left to lose.

Thanks for the info. I'm really looking forward to seeing this event. Not exactly close to home (Madison, WI area), but well worth the trip if I can pick up some tips and tricks to make our winter camping smooth and comfortable. I didn't realize there was a website for this event. Whoever put it together did a very nice job. Cheers.

See you there. I'm coming from the Rockford area. It's one of the most enjoyable events I have ever attended. Very informative, very friendly....As my friend Brian Muraska (in the photo) points out, "A weekend of wool, woodsmoke and weirdos."

That made my day! Bring your tents, set them up, put a for sale sign on them then grab a Bent Paddle or two. The rest of the gear can go to the gear swap. Hopefully, by then end of the weekend you can drive home with a new Snow Trekker :)

Mr. Brown - if you see this before you head north, could/would you call me at 608-279-6455? It appears we may have more than a few interests in common, and I'd like to know more about this deal before we get there.
I'll be a shortimer this weekend, but I'm already imagining this could become a fixture on the annual calendar. It's hard to find kindred spirits when your kindredness is cloaked in wood smoke....
Cheers,
Steve
