I just finished Hampton Sides new book In the Kingdom of Ice. If you enjoy history you will enjoy this book. It's about an Article expedition in the late 1870s early 1880s. The subtitle of the book is very descriptive, The Grand and Terrible Polar Voyage of the USS Jeannette. There are many aspects of this history that resemble what we do on our canoe adventures, but to an incredible level. It would make a great Christmas gift for the history reader. I recommend any of Sides books as excellent reads.
