My eldest has expressed an interest in a canoe trip next year. He was raised camping and has paddled many miles of BWCA with me. So, he's pretty good at it.
I, OTOH, found WCPP to be a moderate challenge for me (in large part due to my own stupidity).
Would you choose: A) a confidence builder taking a similar route in WCPP to my last trip, based on my experience there.
Or... B) Go to Wabakimi with the Wabakimi project for a new experience?
Also wondering if part of my fondness for WCPP is I encountered almost no biting insects.
My "fondness" for WCPP goes beyond the bug thing. I've had some bugs, but like you have been pretty lucky. No, it's the fact that there are so many options for great backcountry travel. Wabakimi seems more of a river experience imo and better suited to roylex type boats. I like WCPP because I'm getting a handle on the different possibilities there. I'm sure you'd be good with whatever you choose to do.
