The Boone Bash River Dash is canoe and kayak races on the Boone River in Webster City, IA. Serious racers to weekend warriors will all have a chance to win some great prizes, eat good food, and meet some fantastic people.
The Race will be held on June 7, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. – 2 P.M. at Riverside Park in Webster City. Shuttles will be available from the takeout at Briggs Woods Canoe Access (4.6 miles downstream). After the race, there will be free BBQ, awards, beer garden, kids activities, armed forces activities, and entertainment at West Twin Park (around 3 P.M.).
The Webster City area is also home to Iowa’s first county park and Iowa’s first Protected Water Area: the Boone River. This area is also home to some of the largest sections of public land in the state: most of which is forest. The Boone River is also a state designated water trail and voted one of the best places in Iowa to paddle.
The Boone River itself is a fairly swift/relatively clear river that is home to an abundant amount of wildlife: Bald Eagle, Otter, Deer, and Wild Turkey are just a few of its inhabitants. Fishermen also flock to this river because of the outstanding Smallmouth Bass and Catfish fishing.
You can sign up or get more info at http://www.boonebashriverdash.com. Also the cost is only $5 per person.
