I started this a week or so ago...

It depicts an old 1850's mill that is near a trout stream that I fish once in awhile near Lanesboro, MN. The mill sadly burned a longtime ago and the stone walls are crumbling with age...
I decided a several years ago, to photograph it and one day paint it to preserve it's memory.
This is the first one of two..depicted with a barn owl perched on the sill of the window.
I will post as this progresses.

Not a great photo but I took it with my phone...almost finished with the rocks....I am doing dark washes on the rocks to darken them like they would be like at dusk.

Whew....ROCKS!!!! Takes a loooong time

I have to go back now and shade and darken the rocks...but as you can see the worst or the best of it is done.
Note: the dark areas above and below the window show stains and scorching from fire.

Barn owls are the oddest looking owl...but they are so cool. They remind me of a ghost...and that scream will send chills up your spine. If I ever heard that while walking in the woods at night...I may just piss myself

barn owl call

Painting...extremely beautiful. Barn Owl scream....very scary. However, knowing how it sounds likely saved me from some skid marks.
