some of the names of the lakes etc sounded familiar. A friend mentioned Farley Mowats books last summer and I found one at Goodwill.
Not a very happy book but gives a pretty good insight into the plight of the natives at that time

while the water is still hard...his books are worth checking out.

I haven't read his books in probably 20 years but really enjoyed Never Cry Wolf and The Snow Walker. I need to get more of his work.

I read Lost In The Barrens when I was a kid, it got me interested in tripping in general, especially canoeing and winter treks in the BWCA.
