Last Saturday cabelas had a bargain cave sale, 20% off on top of previous discounts. Picked up a garmin etrex 20 for $110. Fits the bill for me I think. Had a gps about 10 years ago and I was so disappointed by the performance that I never really gave GPS use much more thought. Basic model that will accept a sd card, still debating between the garmin boundary waters and the red pine paddlenav.

Put maps on a few ETrex 20's nice unit with a lot going for it.
