It turns out I have 9 days off from the 23rd thru 31 and now I'm deciding Colorado River or Wabakimi (yes, I have to decide quick). Anybody know conditions of the southern part, and any info, especially links to trip reports. Fog , Heathcoate, Wilkie, Gault area.

I spoke to Shaun at the park office back in April so take this information with a grain of salt. He estimated that ice-out in the park wouldn't be for another month (May 22/23rd). I guess historically it has been around those dates for Wabakimi. Wildwater outfitters could give you more precise information.

Might also float a query at the new Friends of Wabakimi webpage. I know the first Wabakimi Project trip is slated near the end of May, and participants for that are saying the ice-out is looking favorable. They may well also be able to supply trip-report type info. Best of luck!
