Well, it's feeling and looking like summer in the Ozarks. I get on the river at least once a week in our little slice of heaven on earth. Here's a few recent pictures of the last week of paddling:

what's the story with the chestnut canoe? it looks new and it's been a long while since they've made canoes. also the deck plate is different than i remember. last i heard someone in canada had the chestnut forms, but were having money issues. nice looking boat anyways, and ten points for treating it like a real canoe and taking it down a rocky ozark river. looks wonderful.

Actually, it's a Cedarwood, they had a distinctive emblem that resembled Chestnut's since they used Chestnut's molds. I believe Cedarwood was the first company after Chestnut went out of business to use the Chestnut molds? From what I've heard and read, Cedarwood was started by Chestnut's foreman but that they didn't stay in business very long because they "Spared no expense" if I may borrow that line (LOL)?

I found it at KC paddler. It IS a Pal, it was made on a Chestnut mold, but cannot find anything about age. It has a few little "Warts," which makes it easier to USE instead of storing it to look at! It is a beautiful boat and the best paddling boat I've tried. You would think that with a keel it wouldn't turn that well, but just the perfect blend of rocker and keel to make it a perfect boat for me on the river. I only wish I'd found it when I was younger and stronger (LOL)!

Its amazing that canoe made it that far into the Midwest. Cedarwood Canoes is out of New Brunswick.

Its Chestnut history is believable.. Builders came and went and designs were tweaked for various customers.

Cedarwood had a name change of course. Canoe companies do that sometimes..Now made by the Oromocto First Nation.

Well, it was part of a "Private" collection belonging to a canoe dealer, so that's why it traveled this far. Thanks for the link, Kim!
