Considering doing an outing there in July. We have some friends from Connecticut that we would meet there (we are from Wis). They are in their 70s and have kayaks. Kind of looking for a campground on a motorless or electric motor lake (or pond they call them) that has a state park campground with showers and warm water to keep all parties happy. This would be just a 3-4 day thing where we would paddle and explore... no fishing planned.

Somehow I found a New York camping guide and it looks there are are a lot of possibilities. Thanks

Rollins Pond.

There are also paddle in campsites on Middle and Lower Saranac Lake but from Rollins ( or its neighbor, Fish Creek Campground) you can paddle in that area easily.

Reserve. July is busy.

Just for Rollins..

There are many other campgrounds.. Some such as Browns Tract are quiet for paddle sports. But not showered

Full list of campgrounds in the Adirondacks run by NYS

DEC ADK campgrounds

Staying along the Rt 3 corridor gives you rainy day activities though sites down by Old Forge are closer to the excellent Adirondack Museum

Just got back from staying at Rollins Ponds. Not the BWCA by any means but a neat area to visit...pretty kid friendly as well in my opinion. Will post some pictures when I have time.
Oh did it rain.....monsoons on and off the entire time. Saw some trees really worthy of respect.
The Wild is nearby as well ...interesting place as well.

Well in some places it is but those did not meet your parameters. Get into the Whitney Wilderness and the Five Ponds area and your survival skills will be tested.

Kind of normal for the ADKs to be wet. Glad the flies did not bother you ..or the kids.

Next time try Lowes lake in the five ponds wilderness area. Make sure to climb to the top of the mountain it has a very nice view

And for wild. Try bushwhacking and paddling into some lakes in the Five Ponds Wilderness. Lows and Lila are popular..but the circle route starting at lowes and ending at Lowes after going down to Lila up some ponds and creeks and through Rock and Little Tupper and Round and up the Bog River.. 55 miles.

You wont see many people.

there is a paddlers guide and maps for the Adirondacks.. Fish Creek Ponds is not the only choice.. as a matter of fact its on a very small canoe route.
