With all of the rain we have been getting down here in IL lately, we are about double the amount right now for the month of June, my wife was wondering if Quetico has been getting a lot of rain too? So does anyone have any reports on water levels, excessively wet areas, huge rains or above average rainfall amounts?

My crews have been there wet years and dry years, and it makes less difference than expected, because this is lake canoeing, not river canoeing. You will have a great trip.

From what I understand, water levels are average or a little below average for now. I also keep an eye on water levels for several reasons. Although it's not river fishing, higher or lower lake levels can make a difference with fishing and portaging.

When we were there in 2008, water levels were extremely high. At the ranger station in Cache Bay, water was into the waiting area on the dock and water was also over the stationary part of the dock. High water well above average levels caused fishing to be difficult, paddling across the outflow at Silver Falls was very tricky; rolling several canoes according to Janice, and portage landings down the Falls Chain were muddy and treacherous, not to mention the current.

For now, the water levels seem to be in great shape. Rain up there has been consistent but not enough to cause high lake levels.

I go into Quetico in two weeks and have a feeling this will be an incredible trip for fishing.Weather and water levels seem to be in great shape. Have fun on your trip.

Was in Q from 6/9-6/19 on the North side around Cirrus, Quetico and Beaverhouse. Water levels were LOW. Not real low, but below average.
