So awesome seeing the swans expanding into B-dub. It has been a spectacular recovery. If you are ever in the cities from Nov-March, head up to Monticello and see the entire Midwestern population try to squeeze into a small city lot.....quite the sight!"
Trumpeter? I'm pretty sure I heard a mute swan on my past trip, wasn't the koh-hoh of the trumpeter. E.B. White anybody?

Yes trumpeter...i see them all the time.
North America has 2 native swans : tundra (whistling) and trumpeter.
Mute swans are a non native species and invasive. The mute swan has an orange and black bill
This swan looks like a trumpeter

we are going off topic with the swan thing but whatever. i remember when they brought these birds to carver park. i must have been 7 or 8. a bird nerd from a tender age. thanks. i was hiking with my dad and we found one dead off of the trail. at that time that was a huge deal. the park ranger didn't want to believe that we found one of his swans dead in his park, like what did he think we could have found that could be mistaken for a swan?
IDing trumpeter swans from tundra (whistling) swans is not quite as straight forward as it may seem. the differences are subtle, and the size difference is not that easy to discern without something nearby for perspective.

Wow.
Where? What camera? Time of day?"
Thank you.
This was last week in Algonquin Prov. Park, Nikon D750 24mm lens with 10 stop and 6 stop ND filters stacked, I think around 4 or 5 pm and approx 6 min exposure."
That's frame-worthy. Wow.
