Saw this over on a Facebook backpacking group. I may have to give it a try and make one this winter. I'm not sure if I would trust it with bears but for mice and other varmints it may work. DIY Chewproof bag

I'm going to keep my eyes open for some of this fabric. I used to know a couple guys who worked in body shops but they are retired now. Junk yards are few and far between these days mostly because epa guidelines are so strict. When I was young there was one every five miles along the roadways. Now I have to drive over an hour to get to one.
