Been watching the web cams. I am curious if anyone has been on Fall Lake yet? I am planning a winter camping trip with my son over the new year. The plan was to go to Basswood via, Fall Lake and Four Mile Portage. Can anyone comment on ice / snow conditions?
This weather is Killing us!

Did you make it out on Fall Lake?
Have been planning on going that route to take the wife on her first trip. But have not found if the dog sleds are going that way yet. Does anyone have any info about the Fall/Four mile area?

We did not venture out on Fall Lake. We did go to Wood lake. The portage is rocky and has some elevation changes and sharp turns. Ripped two breaks off one sled. Is was bout 5 inches. This was back on January 2nd.
I did talk with a few mushers who have been going out to basswood. They have been using Fall lake and Four Mile Portage. I believe the have been running the shore on fall. This was back around January 1st as well.
Call Basswood Bob or Kelly Murphy in Ely.
