I'm pumped that in MN you can now hunt the entire season with an archery permit. No more stressing over picking a time slot and having poor weather or difficult birds. April 13th will be here in no time

Been out a few mornings when the wind has let up some. Hearing a few gobbling birds and it seems like the birds are really breaking up and roaming right now.

I hunted the last weekend in April. It was my first time turkey hunting for almost 15 years. A couple buddies of mine were coming out late Friday night to help me call on Saturday and Sunday. I went into the woods Friday night to try and roost a tom or two before they arrived. I soft-yelped a few times while walking to the top of a ridge, and heard some gobbling in response. I sat down, and clucked and purred a nice 25 pounder with a 10 inch beard in to 15 yards then pulled the trigger. I was in the woods for all of 20 minutes. I called my friends and said I hoped they were bringing beer because we were going to need something to do for the rest of the weekend. The turkey went in the roaster Friday night when they arrived and we had turkey bacon sandwiches for breakfast Saturday morning.
