Have not been to the park in about nine years. I used to know some of the lakes that were hot, but it has been a while. Got any advise on Gardner Bay, Elk, Cone?

I don't think these lakes are fished that hard so I would assume they would be similar or better than 9'years ago.

I can unequivocally state, with much hesitation, after hearing endless rumor, innuendo and perhaps blatant lying, not to mention personal guessing and commentary from others on the board for whom I have very little trust, that Quetico, including the lakes mentioned above, is questionably fished out.

Not quite fished out, but not many are interested in catching suckers and 4 inch rock bass. Probably not worth the trip or camping fees.:)

I've been skunked the last 3 times I went to Quetico. I'll never waste my money there again.

Yeah and it's almost impossible to catch a fish with a barbless hook so Quetico isn't worth it anymore.

Quetico..... Don't even bother, nothing but rock bass, and very small perch!!

Last few trips, no fish, never saw an eagle, and even the loons have given up on the place. Have to bring a boom box next time with recorded loon calls to play in the evening.

We made our trip over the early July holidays last year. Never again. We could not find a decent open site. All roots, rocks rubbish.

I heard the bugs were bad in Quetico.

Recorded loon calls. LOL

I think we've gotten just a short distance away from the original question. :)

Rocketman, the fish are gone due to acid rain or sea lamprey or something like that.
I hope you do realize the tongue in cheek nature of the responses. At least I think!
We are very protective of Quetico and all it offers.

You are probably right.
On the other hand tiresome is likely preferred over posts that are critical of one another. That is how we all get along here!

I think it could have something to do with being a guest poster and just wanting critical info like this. Why not take the time to sign up and contribute a little before asking for hot fishing spots. But maybe it's just me who thinks like this.

I don't fish but on two of my trips each year the other guys do. They would kill me dead if I shared their hot spots on these lakes. But suffice it to say one of these areas is a favorite fishing spot.

I don't have a problem if this is the reason. If it not, I suggest the mods just put a sticky advising not to bother asking for the Q lakes. I get not giving out actual locations in a lake but...

Everyone take a deep breath and relax. I'm as guilty as anyone about the "fished out" comments. It's all in fun.

Rocketman, if you're still around, I will say this... the comment above about guests or new members popping in and immediately asking about hot fishing spots is true and will most likely never get you the information you're looking for. Fishing hotspots are learned through time and partipation, and even then, seldom shared publicly. It's just the way it is.

For the love of God, it's called having a SENSE OF HUMOR!!!! If you don't have one or don't share ours, then please BUTT OUT! Sarcasm is funny to many of us and I think pretty obviously answers his question that these areas are all FANTASTIC. Few of us will share many details with a non-member when it comes to fishing, but I will say that he can hardly go wrong in these areas and the good spots are too numerous to list.

Quetico is NOT FISHED OUT! There, I said it, now go catch some fish.

If this forum ever gets too serious and ceases to have a sense of humor, light heartedness, and kindness that it always had, I will cease to be active or donate. Join the forum, get in Quetico Afficionados and you will get a lot of help and info on Quetico.

Sorry if this post is grumpy, It's been an incredibly difficult day.

I agree with you....lighten up Francis (Stripes movie quote). Yes, the locations mentioned in Quetico are great places to fish. Frankly, I don't know many that are not in Quetico. There I said it. :)

@mgraber - thanks for sharing your donations to this site, monetarily and with your comments... AND oh yeah, my comment about the bugs in Quetico was not a joke, they can be bad there.

Have a nice day everyone and God bless!

Holy over reaction Batman! My sentiment never even reached the irritated stage, only "tiresome". Per Jackfish's advice, I suggest a couple of you folks settle down. Lol...
