I have primarily tripped in May and early June. This ear our daughter will be going on her first trip. I was wondering what kind of shoes you would recommend for her. I assume tennis shoes in camp.
What do your kids wear for canoeing and portaging in the hot season?
Thanks!
John

During warm weather/water season my girls wear Keen Newport H2's with merino wool socks and Bog Boots during cold weather/water season for canoeing/portaging. The keens dry fairly fast and have good toe protection. They wear the keens most of the time around camp also.
Have fun! I love my daddy/daughter trips

Crocs can be great, but you should be aware that sharp things can jab through the soles. The daughter of someone here jumped off a fallen log onto a stick which went into the sole quite a ways, but luckily not all the way through. Just something to be aware of, and maybe avoid if you have a particularly jumpy kid (like I do!).

Both my son and daughter use both of these options. Keens in the warmer water late in the summer and bogs for the earlier season trips. They save the keens for wearing around camp once we get to our destination.
