I am new to the use of a gps other than the phone for roads and the sonar units in my fishing boats. I have a lot to learn.
What can I expect to be able to find for maps, either free or for sale? I luckily got some permits to camp in the Lake O'Hara part of Yoho National Park to the west of Lake Louise in Canada. I thought that I would easily be able to locate some free trail maps to download, or at least some very local trail maps for sale. I haven't had much luck.
Am I looking in the wrong spots? Is this just something I likely have to do as a custom overlay map starting with Parks Canada pdf map?

Oh, my, yes. Easy to get lost poking around the layers. Along with the usual BWCAW curiosities, I spent a great deal of time with a 100+ year old map of the Perham area which marks old schoolhouses, roads, and towns that no longer exist. (Don't plan your next walleye fishing outing based on these lake depth markings, however.) :-)
