We are going for a 6 day 5 night loop from EP 19 thru Stuart, Agnes, Oyster ... Pocket, Finger, Thumb, ... Slim, Little Loon, Loon ... EP 14
I am wondering if there's anything special along the way to make sure we enjoy. We picked the loop for waterfalls and solitude (if possible).
I am looking for advice on ending the trip. We have a late afternoon pickup at EP 14. I am wondering how far into Loon Lake we want to go the last night. We don't want to deal with motorboats if we don't have to. How likely are there to be quiet sites on Loon?
There is a decent site on Little Loon at the top of the lake with a small sand beach. Big enough but not huge. You probably could be out by about lunch time if you get an early start and don't spend too much time at Devils Cascade between Loon and Lower Pauness.
Otherwise there are lots of decent sites on Loon in the East Bay many with sand beaches and all fairly big due to them being used by motor boat campers. It saves you a few minutes compared to Little Loon.
There are not supposed to be motors up into Little Loon but trust me-they get in there. No guarantee you won't see a motor boat up in Little Loon, the pinch is wide enough and deep enough for them to go through.
