I need a floodgate of prayer right now. Husband wants to join the Navy Reserves. We spent 5+ years active duty Navy. I know he will make extra money our family really could use.. but so terrified of ISIS and the changing of hands with our president elects. Both Hillary/Bernie and Trump terrify me as leaders of our military.

Jason isn't a believer, but I pray for him each day. Pray for discernment in this decision. I know he looks to his friends who are nearing retirement age.... and whatnot... but i'm still scared. In some ways - this would be so good for our family.. and in other ways it just makes me so scared.

Wow. I respect his desire to serve.
But these are very troubling times.
I will be praying that God will give direction and a sense of his grace and peace whatever that direction may be.
I will also be praying that God will make himself known in your husband's life that he might come to faith.

Prayers for your family. Have your husband make a list of the pros and cons of this move and go from there. p.s. The choices for president are horrendous !

Will be praying. I kind of feel that should be a combined decision. My neighbor is bent on moving him and his wife to do a ministry in Jamaica. She's not really on board but will go and be a supportive wife. I just think couples need to be 100% agreement.

And Brad, can we write you in in November?

This is definitely a tough decision for your family. There are a lot of benefits to joining the reserves. Tricare is great health insurance, the additional income is nice, retirement income, etc. I was in the Army Reserves for a while after active duty. It can be tough to balance everything to say the least. The Lord promises to guide us through these tough decisions (Prov 3:6, James 1:5, Heb 4:16). Since you have placed your faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary these promises apply to you and God cannot lie, how awesome is that? l'll pray that your husband will see his need for a Savior and place his faith in the only Savior God ever provided, Jesus Christ. There will likely be some major changes in the world during the next presidency and I don't think either of the major political parties have selected the right person for the job but God knows what He is doing. I think you will find Romans 15:13 to be very encouraging through all of this. "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
