Hey everyone...love the site.

Last year was my first year visiting Ely and I was part of a group that tripped on Disappointment for a week. Had a great time and caught lots of fish. Bottom line fell in love with the Ely area.

Next year my wife asked if we could do a fishing trip somewhere (part anniversary present and she will be done with college). Now, we have determined tent camping is not for her. Looking at staying at a resort/lodge for a week in June. I have narrowed it down to two lakes. The first is Big Lake NW of Ely and the second is Little Long just outside of town. We aren't worried about the nicest cabins or resort in the world just quiet lakes with good fishing.

Any advise or experience with either? Also, any other recommendations for a resort or lodge with good fishing.

Thanks...hope everyone has a great season this year in the B-dub!

What are you fishing for? Little Long is good for bass. Never fished Big Lake before, but I heard they have decent walleye.

Echo Shores offers a fishing package that allows you to tow a boat and trailer to any lake you wish. Pat and Amy are great hosts. The package includes bait, and everything else you will need for a good price. You can fish Little Long and Big lake if you wish. Little Long is full of big bass and has big walleye but the walleye are pretty elusive at times. If you need tips on fishing either lake shoot me an e-mail.

Little Long seemed more private to me than Big. W# fished them in June. Blutos post is seconded here.

Big Lake is very shallow with minimal structure. Once upon a time it was a good walleye lake, but now it seems to hold a lot of smaller fish. Im sure you would enjoy your time there, it's very pretty, but I wouldn't consider it a great fishing destination. I have no experience on Little Long to compare to. Have a great trip with the Wife, and good luck fishing! If you do choose Big lake, spinner rigs with crawlers is a decent producer.

Big Lake Wilderness Resort rents "glampsites" that are fully set up. I took my wife and 2 young daughters there last July and they loved it.

Huge tent on a wooden platform with comfy cots and sleeping bags, Fully screened in cook station with 4 burner propane stove, utensils, sink, dish rack, 40 gallons of drinking water, lanterns, etc. Nice fire pit with view of the lake and sturdy camp chairs. Also had a charcoal grill. Staff comes out once a day to deliver ice for the giant coolers and make sure you are all set. Site also has an enclosed toilet and a dock.

Very easy. Just show up and you are good to go. The resort gives you free use of all their stuff if you want to use it.

I've. Had good luck on Big lake for decent eyes. No smallmouth. I haven't fished little long but plan on it mid to end June. Heard the pan fish can get little annoying.

Big Lake is a good walleye lake an have produced some decent small mouth as well. I used to fish it many moons ago; I always though is was a great lake.
