if anyone has any info on the West Bay area they'd share, it would be appreciated. either on here on by e-mail.

we are headed to the Quetico Lake/Cirrus Lake area in late July for another of our family trips with people ranging from 70 yrs to 6 yrs old. with the grandpas and the young kiddos, we won't cover much distance and, although we might head to a few larger sites that we have stayed at before on the main part of Quetico Lake, we were thinking of heading to West Bay for a few days since we've never been in that area.

thanks.

Not too sure about West bay, but we THUMPED the walleye from that far western campsite on Eden Island to that northeast bay just above it.

We put the canoe in about 30ft of water, and used swimbaits, in the bounder field that is just off that site.

It was GREAT......we did this first week of june :) .

Can't say that I have spent much time in West bay but I would imagine you will find solitude. Some nice sand beaches near and don't forget the pictos on the north shoreline.

We spent a couple of nights there three years ago, mostly to get out of the historic end of July Hudson's Bay Blow. Did venture out into the bay and got some nice northers on spoons toward the west end.

I spent a few hours there a couple of years ago. I tried to get into Sly Lake but gave up at about the mile marker. I then walked into Curtis Lake but didn't bother portaging in because the wind got rough. It looked like a nice lake for a day trip. I don't recall any amazing campsites in the bay and ended up camping back on the big island in the main lake. The fishing was not memorable but I wasn't trying real hard. If you haven't been in there it is worth at least a day to explore.

I camped, explored and fished West Bay a few years ago. Check out my trip report and if you have any questions, email me. It's an interesting area that sees little use. --Goose

Stevedug,

I paddle through West bay every year heading further into the park.

Spent a little time fishing it, so send me an EMail and I can give you a little info.
