Just found Sierra Nevada's Oktoberfest at my local supermarket. It's my favorite time of year!

I've been making O-fest since early June. We will be done making it by the middle of the week. It's our biggest selling seasonal beer.I'm not sure our's has been released yet, but we have been doing some bottling of it recently. I have some in my fridge in the brewhouse that I took right off the line before it hit the pastuerizer. Nice to have a fresh beer while cleaning up at the end of the day. I generally drink it room temp right out of the case at home.

Room temp? I'll give that a try, probably with Sierra Nevada, Paulaner, or Indian Wells, given that there is no August Schell around here.

was in the Pick n' save and they had an entire pallet of Lakefront's Oktuberfest , they also had Pumpkin Lager, not so sure about that last one, ... maybe if it's part of a six pack or sumthin'
bought some brats so I'll be giving the Oktoberfest a try on Friday
going by the brewery this morning was quite the aroma, which reminds me I'm going to have to stop by and try one of the beerscicles

I don't brew at home anymore, but I'm still making sausage. Can't wait to get a corny keg of O-Fest from one of the local breweries and grill home made brats and mets for a bunch of friends!

Not a big fan of the style, but love the atmosphere and history that goes with it.

I'm a big fan of Oktoberfest beers. Probably my favorite that is widely available is Sam Adams Oktoberfest but there are a lot of good options from smaller breweries. The only one I haven't liked is Summits version of it. For some reason I dislike almost everything that Summit does, the lone exception is the Summit Saga.

2 years ago at the Autumn Brew Review Oktoberfests were the big beer trend everyone was offering. I was like a kid in a candy store with almost 100 different Oktoberfest beers to sample. Last years trend seemed to be anything barrel aged.

I'll have to agree on your statement about Summit beers. The EPA is alright and the Saga is good, but other than that I'll not a fan.

Summit, Sprecher, and Schell's are three I stay away from, I recently tried a Nordeast, didn't like it, reminded me of Miller High Life, which is kinda funny since the name Nordeast would lead you to believe it is a low brow working man's beer ( it certasinly tastes like it). But then I guess High Life really isn't the champagne of beers either.

I wouldn't take it personal, just my tastes, I prefer lagers, in fact after all the so called craft beers I have had, I return to Moosehead, about 3 bucks a 12 pack cheaper than New Glarus or Lakefront offerings, the extra 3 bucks just isn't worth it.

... and then I go to the store and they have buy two get one free, so I picked up a six of Leinie's Octoberfest, Berry Weise, and WI Red

I know, I know, Berryweise=added flavors, gotta have something for the ladies

F that, the real test is does it enhance the experience of eating German food. Yes, it does. I had bought some house made Bratwurst from Pik n’ Save. As I was walking by the liquor department a young lass offered me a sample. It tasted great so I bought three six packs (they were on sale). She also gave me a taste of Wisconsin Red Pale Ale. Swing and a miss. She said it is only available in Wisconsin, people from other states don’t know how lucky they are to not have this available. I’m thinking they called it pale because they diluted it with a pale of MOP water. It should really be called double pale, it is the weakest tasting beer I have ever drank, I can’t remember a beer I have tasted that was as unsatisfying as this beer.

Oktoberfest is another victim of the "Real Ale" movement in Great Britain. In three weeks, I didn't see one opportunity to buy.

Had an Oktoberfest from Great Lakes yesterday. It was a pretty good representation of the style.

Got a twelver of Schell's...so autumnal!

We were in Des Moines this last weekend visiting family and picked up a 6 pack of Exile's Octoberfest. It was a hit with my father in law.

SurlyFest and Fargo's O'Fest are both good ones. I believe I'll have enough to make it through the Fest's upcoming final weekend.

I spaced mine out just right, have one bottle left and having one with my pizza tonight.
Then it's back to my old standby, the unpretentious Moosehead.

Marzen's are unbelievably good out there these days. So many to sample. I came across Vintage Brewing Company out of Sauk Prairie,WI (near Madison). I'm pretty sure their Octoberfest beer is my favorite - until I come across something else....But a case is NOT enough. My son live's there - and will be picking me up more!
