Does anyone have info on the Poplar to Meeds portage. It clicks in at 290 rods and from the topo maps looks fairly level for much of the way. Has anyone walked it?

Good to see a post from you, IBFLY - I was wondering what happened to you. I've missed reading your trip reports.

I haven't done that portage, but have looked into it and mostly what I remember is it's not really too difficult other than being a little long.

Thanks Boonie, it's been a long time since I've posted. I've been away but hope to be a bit more engaged now.

Hey.....just fooling around on bwca.com today and joined this forum. You've probably already done this portage, but if it's for next year, I can tell you it feels longer than listed but it's fairly flat. Not a lot of ups and downs but it's still kinda rugged. Some rocky spots, some muddy spots.....I tried to single it with a big pack and my Mn2 and wimped out about 3/4 of the way across and dropped the pack. Sent one of my sons back for it. We had a long drive and a late start from Poplar landing. Got on water about 3:00 and got to Meeds about 5:00. Lucky enough to get the far west campsite. The 2 island sites were taken. Meeds is a great lake.
