not sure of campsite number, it's the 3rd site to the east of the portage in from clearwater. i stayed at this site fall 2012 and again last week. OMG! this site has been abused. so many standing trees with hatchets marks, whole rotten un-burnable logs drug into the firegrate area, the latrine is full to almost "tickling" stage.

there was an abundance of assorted mushrooms and fungus growing around the camp and esp along the latrine trail, more than 4 years ago. i guess it's from the forest decaying over time but could it also be from people too lazy to go to the latrine and P'ing just anywhere?

the fish crib on the north landing area has been somewhat dismantled.

a few things that remain the same: the view from the site to the west, north and east is still amazing; the rocks, rocks, rocks... :); and the feeling of being the only people in an area, even though we did see 4 other guys; and the portage to pemmican seems to have a few more trees down which required the two of us to get the canoe through a few places, but well worth the effort to spend several hours exploring this lake and giving the fish some amusement for the day.

It is sad to hear, but I often find myself avoiding these highly rated sites since they do get over used. Especially when solo I often use lesser rated (and less used) ones. That's a lot easier to do when you only need one small tent pad though.
