Good luck to everyone heading out and be safe.
First time in awhile that I'll be skipping rifle season although this time I'm doing it to spend more time bow hunting. I've got access to private land that is bow only that has much better potential for both quantity and quality of deer than my public land rifle spots. I'll miss hunting with the guys since I'll be going solo this weekend but it was hard to pass up the opportunity.

Well another season for most of us has come and gone. A successful hunt for me is just being outdoors and enjoying nature. I did shoot a doe with the muzzleloader so I am happy for the meat and opportunity.
Many of us are so lucky to have so many outdoor opportunities.

I think I'm hanging up the bow for the year and another year is in the books with no deer again. I'm going to have to change my name to nodeer.
I have some PTO left to use up but hunting in single digit temps doesn't really excite me right now. Plus I can cash my time and use the money for a weekend away with the wife which should help ensure future hunting trips next year.
We are both really bummed about not having any meat for the freezer this year.

I agree. A good hard hunt in wild places is very fulfilling even if a tag does not get filled. With that said, we go through a lot of game in our home. Elk and venison is just better than beef and pork. Plus there's something to be said for hunting, killing, packing, and butchering the meat on your table. We are very fortunate to live in a country with public lands and opportunities to hunt on them.

Am very blessed with a few quality spots to hunt. Missed an IL giant during shot gun season but harvest a few nice deer and have started the processing process with steaks, stew meat, and jerky. Sausages and cured meats will be in the works late Feb. Enjoy all my time outdoors.
