My son Ben, wanted a solo canoe to start his daughter paddling.
So last Winter we started building a stripper.
I took forms from the Henry Rushton Arkansas Traveler, and shortened the spacing of the forms to make a 14' solo canoe.
Thus the Iowa Traveler came to be.

It turned out great, now I HAVE to build one for me.
Here's some pics.

You built a beauty. There is a color in the bottom portion of the hull that looks like redwood. Did you use redwood?

Your canoe was built for the same purpose that I am contemplating for my granddaughter. I did a lot of searching for the perfect "wee" canoe. I have finally settled on a canoe that is built by Stewart River. Alex has 2 solo canoes that he calls the damselfly (13') and solitude (14'). Both have hull lines that were taken from the Bell Wildfire (with modifications). He sells both plans but you have to do some modifications of the plans to go from wood/canvas to strip.

Thanks Drifter !

Please post your build ! I'm interested in the Stewart river canoes. I've seen some of his work, and it's first class !

Beautiful canoe. I love the picture of it upside down on your truck looking at it from the end. I really like the profile and the curves.
