I live in the Washington, DC area and am looking for one or more other people to do a trip to BWCA/Quetico in mid May or early August, 2017. Thinking of a 7 day trip exclusive of travel to and from put in/take out. Prefer a trip with great scenery, remoteness, and medium to advanced level of difficulty. I am 66, in good health, great shape, and very experienced. Would be interested in meeting and/or paddling locally to ensure compatibility prior to trip.

I hope you eventually get a reply, Tim, but I've noticed that the vast majority of posters are from the Midwest. There are a few scattered people from the east, but I've not noticed many. I'm from WV, there are a few from ME, MD, TN, NC/SC, VA, PA, etc.

There's not many people I know here who are interested and have the available time, so I've done a lot of solo trips. I try to meet people out there before and after my trip, but that's not much opportunity. I've even done a trip with one, but of course that still means traveling there and back alone.

Good luck on your quest to find a travel partner.

I'm not saying it's impossible, Tim, but not that many people frequent this private forum. You might want to post in the Listening Point and Trip Planning forums and just let people know who you are, what your interests are, that you're looking for traveling companions. Post on some topics; let people get to know you a little. And if you're ever going to be around Morgantown, WV, let me know.

In defense of this trip partner site, in the last 4 years we have needed to fill out crews to even numbers for 2 man canoes or to just get to my wife's rule of 2 canoes on a trip for safety. We have found crew on this site from Israel, West Virginia, Moline Illinois, and Louisville Kentucky. Every one has turned out to be an excellent part of fine crews. No wierdos or anyone but great crew members were found, and it is interesting to note that they had the same concerns about joining with a crew never before met (us).
Past experience is no guarantee for the future, but nothing but great crew additions yet.

I wish I would have seen this forum before yesterday! I live in Alexandria, VA and am headed for a 5 day solo May 20th to EP 14. I would have liked to see what we could have worked out, but after several months of planning I am pretty well locked in at this point. Ill keep it in mind for next year!
