As a longtime bass fisher, I am used to thinking outside of the box. Now, getting more into fly fishing, I am doing the same. Has anybody used any of the dyneema lines as a leader. It sinks, so it's use would probably be more for streamers, I'm guessing. Tricks, helpful hints?
I have used the super braided lines since they came out for a bite resistant tippet when flyfishing where pike are present. I use superglue on my knots when using braid to prevent slippage. I find it to be more bite resistant than other lines and quite a bit more supple than wire. Flouro line also works well as a bite resistant tippet material. I
Frankly not NOT thought of that aspect!! Well, now I have ideas!! Betcha a beautiful g pike popper would not be dragged down by the braid....hhmmm. Thanks, 'mon!!!
Dyneema is limp so it is not very helpful for leader material. As for tippet it should work fine except that pike do bite through it and it is harder to tie than regular line. If you are concerned about bite offs then try Surflon Micro Supreme 13-lb wire tippet.
