My annual response!

I rode my wife's fat bike exactly one time this year, otherwise I rode studded tire 29er. What little snow there was, was pretty packed. It's still February, and I actually took the studded tires off yesterday! Global warming, I guess.

I put the studded tires on my 29er today. Ground is frozen, about an inch of snow. Perfect for riding. Not much snow to ski anywhere in MN - but definitely colder than last year.

Adding to this already active thread. Haven’t been out on the bike even with studs, as there’s a slick layer of ice under all the snow. Good skiing though. Need one good warm day to fuse the ice layer to the snow above it before I try the bike.

My wife has a fat bike that I tend to ride more than her when it's snowy out. Lately I've been XC skiing more, but always get the bike out a bit too. (except now we have a glaze of ice on the snow that would be pure death if you didn't have studs....and we don't)

A bit late to my annual post. A fall bike trip up sawbill is on my bucket list. But I’ve been too busy.

I did a trip up there a couple of years ago. Parked at Sawbill Lake and just wondered the gravel and unimproved roads for 3 days. I went in late May and had all the campgrounds to myself. You can actually camp anywhere in the Nat Forest that's not private property.
