Husband wants to go winter camping this year/season too - so squeezing in two trips now! Woo hoo!

We prefer the Ely side, and will put a few tip ups out for fish, but not targeting anything real specific [yet].

Thinking about
- Wood
- Angleworm
- Snowbank
- Hegman - mostly for the pictos

Any pros/cons you can think of with these ones, or any other ideas we missed? Any specific lakes you would target for fishing over others? Solitude over others? Easibility over others?

Not interested in hitting up LIS again, or rivers.
Not interested in camping with a bunch of snowmobiles, but I hear you can head to some other lakes near Snowbank....

I have been to Wood, & Snowbank so I will comment on those.

One thing that snowbank offers that the others don't is lake trout if that interests you at all. The travel will be easy as most of the time there are trails throughout the lake. If you get over on to the BWCA side you can find some solitude however there will still most likely be people passing bye on occasion.

Wood lake also offers fairly easy travel as the portage is used a decent amount. The last time we were there we had one other group camping on the lake with us but they were plenty far away so we felt the solitude was pretty good however depending on when you go there could be multiple groups there.

If solitude is a big concern you may consider going in one more lake to somewhere like Hula. The fishing is limited to Pike and pan fish but typically it has less traffic than Wood Lake. You could also try Disappointment or Parent.
I'm sure others will be able to help with your other options.
