Beans wondering about paw wax? Supposed to keep the snow from sticking, and not as big a hassle as the dog booties.

I use Musher wax, but more to keep my dog's paws healthy. It seems to me like it prevents cracking and drying, which comes from both the cold and all the salt and crud they put out everywhere. When really cold, I'll still usually booty up. It's not cheap, but a small jar seems to last me about 2 years.

Great looking dog and a timely post as I was just looking at dog booties to keep the ice from building up between my dogs pads. Would the wax get all over everything when the dog comes inside. What brand of dog boots work well.

Sort of depends on the individual dog and conditions. I had some Ruffwear, but my dog didn't like those and I think they are better for hot conditions than winter. I have some Muttlucks that he likes best on hard pavement, but in deep snow the elastic leg portion collects snow (I think I'll add a velcro strap). I also have some simple, black fleece square toe ones with rubber bottoms from my pet shop. They stay on and keep the snow out, but can turn around and be more awkward to walk in. Mushers just use a plain, short nylon boot with one strap to keep snow out from toes. It's sort of trial and error.

I love mushers secret. Works great to protect my dogs feet in cold weather or salt on sidewalks. Also works great to protect their feet from sharp rocks or when it's very hot. Organic, so safe if they eat it and also safe for ur furniture. Highly recommend.

Works best by using it consistently to condition or get into their pads and between the toes. A little goes a long way. We are in the Twin Cities so you know the cold conditions. Our small dogs don't need much so the container lasted a couple years, so I tried it on really dry stiff gloves - worked great!
