My GPS has a feature to turn on or off the WAAS/EGNOS. I understand that it is a system of land based beacons to adjust for the satellites for a more accurate fix. I would think I would want to leave this on, right? Why would I want this in the off position? Will this feature in the on position use more power? Thanks for any information you can give me on this.
It is basically localized corrections (time and atmospheric conditions), applied to sat signals and kept updated it your GPS's almanac. Can/does add accuracy, power consumption is minimal to non-existent. I keep it enabled.
