For breakfast. Not a huge fan of oatmeal and remember having rice ( w/ milk and honey ) for breakfast growing up,
So lately have been testing quick trip dishes.
Minute rice with milk powder, brown sugar, dried apricots or raisins or cranberries or cherries or any dried fruit.
Even add some egg powder/crystals and nutmeg cinnamon as a dinner dessert. Want to take my granddaughter some trip and this came to mind.
I wish they had instant Wild Rice Pilaf for dinner, but this will have to wait for post-trip at the steakhouse in town.

We have used this site for different recipes. There are some with rice for breakfast. We get tired of oatmeal too. So we have done a lot of recipes with grits for breakfast. Trailcooking.com

Couscous and quinoa also work well as breakfast cereal.

quote boonie: "Couscous and quinoa also work well as breakfast cereal. "

I'll second the quinoa ... mixed with peanut butter and honey is my preferred way, though I do also like it with just some brown sugar or honey and a bit of dried fruit, but I don't care for an elaborate breakfast while camping on mornings where we are breaking down camp. By elaborate, I mean anything that requires a stove or preparation of any kind. I usually just eat a cliff bar, some nuts, and jerky, guzzle a bunch of water, and refill all my bottles for the day.

If it's a basecamp situation, breakfast can be a bit more leisurely and involved, but I still like easy options like the packaged granola and powdered milk, or freeze dried sausage and pancakes. I prefer the few extra minutes of sleep to the elaborate breakfast prep.

Well sorry,, but have to ask.
Why would any of you go for fake rice when real rice is now available. So much better with the recipes you just talked about, not to mention more nutritious and 100% better tasting. The other stuff, Uncle Ben's, Minute rice, just plain fake, conglomerated starch formed into a rice kernel.
Just sayin

I agree but will point out Minute Rice is real rice blanched rinsed and air dried, not fake at all.
Benefits of real rice is nutritional as processing dilutes some food value. It only takes 20 minutes to cook long grain white rice vs 6 minutes for Minute Rice , never intending to be rushed I cook long grain as a choice.
