Sick of wind pushing my tent around on Chequamegon Bay. (Insert ice anchors)

First attempt at a homemade automatic fisherman.

Sonar monitor/gopro/other stuff holder. Original is oak as seen in the background, the 21st century version is 1/4 aluminum. Mounts on the forward end of my pamlico 120.

This week on the vise.

What have you been up to?

Finished a removable portage yoke for a solo canoe:

Spring creek clamps, DIY portage pads

Also: A family member gave me an older hummingbird fishing' buddy sonar (the kind with integrated battery pack that clamps to the boat with transducer pole that dips into the water). I dissected it with the dremel and removed the good stuff: the transducer cable is perfect length to mount up a thru-hull setup in the canoe.

Really nice, muddyfeet. I had never seen anyone here who did that with a Fishin' Buddy. The AA battery pack is obviously an add-on, replacing clips to a 12v battery, I would guess. Any other details you can share on your mod? Because I thinks some other members might be using one of these and could save some pounds.

I'm not sure schweady... I've never ice fished in Minnesota, so I haven't researched regulations. I know the IDO guys love their iFishPros, but those aren't "auto sets" they're pretty much just rod holders.

Nice work muddyfeet!

Thanks, but no: the AA battery pack (6) is actually part of the original fishin' buddy depthfinder. My main tool was a cutoff wheel on a small dremel, as well as a coping saw. The secret is opening all the plastic and resin without damaging the transducer cable running down the inside. I prettymuch split it lengthwise from top to bottom- like a banana.

Daring, anyway. :-) Nice thinking.
