I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. It's amazing what memories are held from trips like yours.

And I still don't know how we got along without cell phones...and texting.

This is a cool trip report, ECPizza. It's like reading a book and having to just conjure up the images all in your head. What a great thing that you were able to have this experience at such an impressionable phase in your life.

I remember the storms of '87. I was 7 at the time and my family had just moved to Apple Valley about 3 weeks earlier. The streets were pretty much lakes that night. For several days, the drainage ponds in the neighborhood were way flooded and you couldn't even get to some of the playgrounds in the parks because of it :)
