I'm getting along in years and suffer back fatigue when sitting in a canoe or standing for long periods. I needed a canoe/camp chair with more support than a typical Crazy Creek chair. I recently tried the GCI Sitbacker and it is perfect for me. The metal frame really makes the difference for superior support, both when paddling and relaxing in camp. The seatpad is very firm and will not flatten out after extended use. Also the back stays up when exiting/entering the canoe. I don't think it will work well with tractor canoe seats, and I've heard some flat canoe seats may be too narrow to accomodate the Sitbacker. So measure first.

Very comfortable in the canoe and can be taken out to sit on the ground. Like the portage lock.

Surprisingly makes the canoe more unstable when installed correctly. When installed incorrectly-->One trip the inexperienced bow paddler did not fasten his tight, ran into 40 mph winds and whitecaps and we believe this contributed to the canoe flipping as he was shifting from side to side. I do not use it if I am planning to travel (gets strapped under the seat), nice to tour and fish with.

The webbing on the side will rub on the canoe and fray. had to gorilla tape mine, but it has lasted for 3 trips.
