Light, but very heavy duty. Can order a size that fits you specifically, I am short, so that is very important to me. Harness & straps are super comfortable, I could carry this all day loaded to the gills without discomfort. The fabric doesn't get soaked & when the straps get wet, they dry quickly. I use a big garbage bag to seal my camping stuff & make it waterproof. Have had it many years, 2 week+ long trips per year & it is in like new condition. Love it.

I've had this pack for about 5 years now and it's my fave. Very spacious, comfortable, durable as can be and worth every dime. I wish I had two of them. The only thing I would add to this pack is a zipper pocket in the top flap for quick access to small things.

Used this Pack on two trips now. Hauls a ton of gear, rides low enough for comfortable portaging and has convenient map pouch. Side pockets are great for axe and saw.

This is the largest Granite Gear pack. My favorite thing about this particular pack is the large pocket on the back to put things you need quick access to when underway, like rain gear. It's large enough to put pants, coat, and hat and leave room for other items. There's also a strap to cinch the pocket closed. It's great having multiple areas for cinching, sides, top, bottom, etc.

Words of caution: The temptation is to fill it to capacity, but if you do you might regret it on the portage trail. Also, it doesn't fit very well in narrow solo canoes like the Bell Magic or similar canoes. I bought this just before my first solo and didn't even consider this. I was able to get by okay by lying it on its side, but even then I had to stuff the shoulder straps in the small space between the pack and gunwales.

My wife has the 3.5 Granite Gear pack, and she loves it because of the waist strap, which is feature of all the Granite Gear packs. We also have a Granite Gear harness for our bear barrel that has served us very well over the years. Yes, it also has the waist strap that takes some weight off the shoulders/back.

Decent pack. Impossibly huge. Harness system attachments have required frequent repair; this might be due to the sheer mass it can contain. I'm a decent sized guy (6', 185 #, 46" chest) and the harness is so large that it will not stay on my shoulders without using the sternum strap. Love the quick release buckles on the compression straps but can't comprehend why the aren't on all 4 compression straps.
