What a great campsite the sandy beach is. It could fit about 40 tents if you had to and has a great swimming beach on both sides. We woke up to a cool morning, but it was clear and windless. So far, so good.

You never see the main body of Sturgeon looking this calm, do you?

Brett's next treat was that he had brought a dozen fresh eggs and some bacon in, and we were having quite a breakfast.

We were anxious to get out for some fishing, and even by midmorning, our paddles were still cutting into a glassy surface.

We worked around the shoreline and bays in the southern part of Sturgeon, without much success, except for small pike and a few bass. Water temps were cold still, and not too much was happening with the bigger smallies. We continued to work our way northeast and finally got into some walleyes in some narrows around Scripture Island and another hole that we had some intel on. We were able to get some nice eaters, and we headed back towards our sandy beach for an evening fish fry.

We got back out into the walleyes for the evening bite, and Steve "caught fire" with his method of swimming his jig and grub. Here was a 24" that he caught in 8 feet of water:
