We are up and on the water by 9 AM. Pretty good for a couple of sick people :) Pretty much the entire trip we had a sore throat and just fatigued really easily. It was at least 85 degrees and always sunny every day. Great weather but when you don't feel well the sun and heat can really sap your energy.

We head to Sarah today through the Isabella River. As we exit North Bay we pull over a beaver dam, then portage shortly after that. We meet some a large group coming the other direction but we all seem to get aound each other just fine. They were the only people we saw that day--what are the chances of running into them in the narrowest part of the portage :) Next we enter the Isabella River or creek--right at the entrance is a large SMB cruising the shallows he looks almost black has to go at least 19 inches but my pole is not handy so she gets to keep swimming. ON the way out in the exact same spot we will see a LMB about as green as this SMB was black and exactly the same size in the same spot. Those lilly pads on the pond leading inot Isabella creek beckon for soem Texas rigging :) but not on this trip.

We float down the Isabella creek pulling over 2 beaver dams, finally reaching another easy portage. We paddle down Isabella Lake both camps are open. We stop and have lunch at the camp on the pond off of the Isabella to pond portage. Both of us are exhausted, but we push on--I am not sure which set of portages are the "heart attack" portage becuase it all blurrs inot one now, but a lot of ups and downs before we get to Side. Next we break up the portages form Side inot Sarah into 3. As we head out onto Sarah there is a strong head wind as we paddle to the narrows on the east side of the lake. I troll a #11 minnow rap and catch a couple of 5# Lakers but quite trolling as we lose a lot of ground every time everytimne I hook a fish and sense my wife's annoyance/fatigue :)

Tired we take a camp in the narrows. It has a shelf to clean/swim some, decent fire pit, but is very sloping. One flat spot for a tent looks well used.

We head out to get water and check other areas. We troll and catch 7 trout all around 3-5# adn nuymerous SMB in just a few minutes. They are lucky I don't feel liek cleaning them :)

We have a nice campfire enjoy a glass of Merlot, read books, head to bed.
