Day 2-5:

We all wake up late on our second day. Everyone was exhausted from the long hard day we put in and our bodies needed rest. Pancakes for breakfast and then its time to start fishing! Amy lands her first ever fish other than a bluegill and is thrilled. Its a nice 3lb laker that threw slime all over me and the back end of the canoe.

During the course of the week we explore Louisa and keep fishing hard. The weather has been warm but we know storms are coming. By day 3 we can see them on the horizon and day 4 its cloudy and windy. The change in weather doesn't help the fishing much and we can't catch anythign from shore. In total we only get one or two fish a day, I only catch one fish after the first night.

We also decide to explore the un-named lake to the West of Louisa. It is a short walk through the woods. The portage is overgrown, but not terribly bad. We go around the lake and find it is very pretty, might almost be worth staying on some time. AGain though, the fishing is bad and the wind is up. I did watch a laker follow my lure but it just wouldn't hit it. We named this un-named lake the DAMN lake for each of our first initials. There several jokes involving the name revolving around the fishing as well.

The night before leaving our base camp and heading back towards PP a big thunderstorm rolled through. It rained hard throughout the night with a lot of thunder and lightening plus lots of wind. The annex on my tent blew down, but we were more exposed than Mr. & Mrs. Chief. No damage though, but no sleep either.

Mrs. Chief was bummed that she only caught one fish this whole period, a small laker that we ate because it died.
