Tuesday, September 04, 2012 I repaired a tent pole that cracked when I set my tent up that previous night. Breakfasted and packed by 10:15. Things go slower when you are soloing and besides my old bones needed more time to rest. It was a nice morning, about 62 degrees and no wind. I stopped by the Crooked Lake pictographs to not only marvel over the ancient rock art but also the colors and angulations of the rocks themselves. Actually with time the pictos have faded so much that the beauty of the rocks seem to be the dominant sight now. By 2:30 I pulled into the nice campsite just north of the neck of Moose Bay. It was getting hot this day, mid eighties and that hammock sure seemed the place to be! Oh, heck! by four there was thunder coming from the west. I feverishly put up the tarp and moved my hammock under it just in time to thumb my nose at the pitter-patter on the tarp. The rain cooled the evening temperatures down into the low seventies. This campsite is nice; I think I will stay another day here.
